Day 2

It’s the first but probably not the last crowing that wakes us up in the morning. Everyone was able to have a good rest, after the exhaustive 104 kilometers, and were ready for today. Of course this doesn’t begin with riding and it won’t end like that either.

We started making breakfast, chef Paul decided which schnitzel is best for starting off the day with the very well working method of quality control by smell. We also added to the menu: eggplant, cheese, marmalade and other delicacies brought from home.
It was time to pack up the camp. With good music and good spirit it didn’t seem as unpleasant as it would, also the weather was on our side. After packing up the tents we held a quick meeting in order for everything to go well. The last fixes were done and the bikes were lined up, we left the school yard of the Szilágyballa school escorted by the same kind police officer that joined us yesterday and soon we left the municipality too. We would like to take this opportunity to thank Mr Máté Tibor for his generous support.
Today’s distance was promising: 40 kilometres, the destination being Tasnád bathing resort. We would like to emphasise, BATHING. We stopped to rest for a bit at the boarder of the county, refilling (and emptying), eating snacks and also saying goodbye to the police from the Szilágy county who were replaced by the police of Szatmár county. At this time we had 20 kilometers left and also the bathe! The road was surrounded by a very intimate forest, like it was made for riding bikes there, truly enjoyable.

By this time the organizers already thought about making some changes in our plans. This thought gained contour when we were 5 kilometers away from Tasnád, our original destination. We stopped in order for the plan to be more precisely elaborated and we realised that we needed a quick exploratory journey. While the commando set off, our group took a rest. But because this is a bike expedition and no one can starve during a bike expedition, chef Paul made us a quickly improvised lunch. Then we waited.
The bread with Nutella made the shock a bit bearable when we found out the final judgement: 30 more kilometres. We are going all the way to Nagykároly. It wasn’t easy to get on the bike and continue to ride in the hot sun especially because we’ve already imagined the cooling effect of the water. Luckily we didn’t meet any hills or other obstacles in our way. We knew that every plus kilometer covered meant an easier day tomorrow but all we could think about was is it really worth it?
When we crossed the city, stopping the traffic, we entered the street where the camping area was and we saw the following caption: “Two more steps to heaven”, after two or maybe more steps we could also see it. Crossing the entryway we could see a huge, organised camping area and looking at our left side we could see the Heaven. Slides, pools, people bathing. We could feel it: IT WAS WORTH IT!

We would like to thank Győző for the information and the encouragement, we love it here!

We unpacked, put on our swimsuits and jumped in the water, forgetting about the difficulties faced today. Nevertheless we can’t end the day like this, so after we finished having fun we started preparing dinner: Spaghetti Bolognese. Is there anything that could make this day any better than this?
